Mr. Ogg in the can

Mr. Ogg focused and vigilant at the controls of the TV studioAt last Mr. Ogg is in the can, right where he belongs. In the can, that is, if you consider a small plastic card the size of a postage stamp a can. The final element  in season two of The Movie Parody Network has been shot and ready for editing. Once again, the great Jake Correll reprises his role as Mr. Ogg, the hardest (and only) working man at Burrheado brothers Television broadcasters.

And what’s so great about the great Jake Correll? Not only has Jake been the driving force behind  McKinney Repertory Theatre for the last decade, but more importantly, he donated his old 60′s era beast of an amplifier for us to cannibalize for parts for our set.  Should you care to look close, you’ll see tubes, knobs, capacitors and other strange electronic parts all over our control panel. Thanks Jake for lugging that amp back from Korea 40 years ago for us to repurpose as a set. Not only is Jake a joy to work with and cheap to feed, he’s more manageable than Charlie Sheen and hotter than Morely Safer.

Jake Correll as Mr. OggOur first step to taping the control room scenes, was to drag our set out of storage, hose it down with spider killer, scrape off the mud dauber nests and then figure out how to reassemble the whole shebang from memory. Being that the set resembles a jumbled mess from any angle, you could pretty much put it together any way you like and no one would know if it was correct.

This time the footage was shot with our new Panasonic AF100 High def camera. Of course the footage will be down-rezzed to standard def and with any luck it will blend harmoniously and play nice with the rest of the standard def footage. The Hi def to standard def conversion actually makes things seem funnier, you wait and see.

Once again, Jane McGregor handled, costumes, makeup and script supervision, thank you Jane and thank you Brian McGregor and your 60D for the photos.
